Interesting information

A friend of mine took me to a belly dance class and it is something I had always wanted to try, so I went along with her.

She left the class 2 weeks later and I stayed on.

I love this wonderful dance, it is such a magical dance form, mysterious and yet familiar, the beautiful dance moves complement the female form so well, in fact, it celebrates all that is female.

As well as this, it is therapeutic and has been used as an anti-natal exercise in helping to ease the pain of labor with its lyrical moves.

Some even think it is a fertility dance!!! Hey, it is just so good for so many things, and you will meet such wonderful friends in the class! Have a go!

Teacher: Horizon, Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Location: The Priory School Dance Studio, Bedford Road, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG52UR. England.

Level of lessons: Beginners and intermediate.

Time and cost is best to email Horizon for updated information.

Styles taught: American Tribal Style, Fat Chance Bellydance, and improvised tribal style.

Experience and style: American Tribal Style is a modern Bellydance format with roots in Egyptian, African, and Flamenco dance.

It is a group dance format where dancers lead a vocabulary of dance steps with cues and there is a lead dancer who the others follow.

The lead is then passed around the dancers. The beauty of this dance style is that anyone who knows the FCBD (Fat Chance Belly Dance) format can then come together and dance, creating a sisterhood across the world, a universal dance language.

Improvised Tribal Style – This is an extension of the improvised dance style, dancers learn a variety of moves and combos with cues using a 25-yard skirt as a prop.

This is an intermediate level so open to dancers once they have completed the Level 1 (6 weeks)and Level 2 (12 weeks) 2 Fat Chance Bellydance course.
