fun ways to learn

Postby bellydanca25 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 4:38 pm

occasionally i like to use fun ways, not sure if it's a game exactly (!) to help my students learn.

I have some bright stars which have belly dance moves written on them, one move per star, and they do like circuits, so they are in a circle, all with a star in front of them, they have to drill that move until i shout 'change!' and they move 1 place to the next star. it helps with getting them used to then ames i use for moves.

we sometimes do 'add a move' where again we are in a circle, and i'll start with a move, and then the next person adds a move, and then we dance my move, and their move, and then add on, add on, so it almost creats a mini routine. we tend to keep things to 4's as it fits well with the 4/4 music and helps to remember! sometimes if i'm doing this with a more advance class, i'll say, they have to add a move in this order - travelling move, upper body, shimmy, lower body...and then repeat so it limits it a bit more and makes them think!

any other ideas though are much appreciated! :)

Thank you Bellydanca25, your idea is very good!
I will try it with my class and I will let you know if I think of some other fun game for learning dance moves.
